The Insight Academic Program provides educational and social support to middle school students in Chicago by providing an adult tutor/mentor to help each child with their academics and personal development throughout the school year.
Insight operated as a program of a Catholic Church located on the Near North Side of Chicago for more than 15 years. In August of 2004, in order to assure Insight's existence, HighSight adopted the program. Since then, we have been able to better serve the Insight students with high school readiness programming.
Insight currently works with 90 middle school children - 4th to 8th graders. The students, coming from more than 20 elementary schools, attend weekly study sessions on Mondays during the school year.
With HighSight's experience over the past decade of awarding scholarships for students to attend private schools, we have come to realize that many of the students who apply to us are under-prepared academically. Many students are attending schools that are not helping them develop the structure and personal discipline required to succeed at the high school level. Through Insight, we are able to assist the students take a more serious approach toward their academics, so that ultimately, they will be qualified to select and attend the best possible high school for them.
